Hrithik Roshan, the 6'1 feet tall, handsome actor was born to actor-director Rakesh Roshan and actress Pinky. His grandfather, Roshan, was a well known film-music director. It was one of Hrithik’s earliest dreams to follow his father’s footsteps, and grow up be an actor. After implementation graduation from Sydneham College with a Bachelor’s in commerce, he worked behind the camera, supporting his father in films.
Hrithik has done a number of films as a child artist. His first film as a kid was 'Aap Ke Deewane' (1980) directed by his father, Rakesh Roshan. Then he did the role of a dancer boy in 'Aasha' (1980). However his best remembered performance as a child star was in 'Bhagwan Dada' (1986). He assisted in films such as 'Khudgarz' (1987), 'King Uncle' (1993), 'Karan Arjun' (1995) etc. After the success of 'Karan Arjun', where he worked as a third assistant to his father, he was determined to prove himself as an actor and joined in Kishore Namit Kapoor’s acting classes.
In 2000, Hritik's debut as a hero in 'Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai' (2000) directed by his father enchanted billions. He acted pretty well and his presentation won him the Filmfare Best Debut Award as well as the Filmfare Best Actor Award. The talented actor with his superb dancing and acting skills became the heart throb of thousands of filmy buffs around the nation. A Hrithik mania stormed in and around India after KNPH.
His second film was Khalid Mohamed's 'Fiza' (2000).The mainstay of the film was undoubtedly Hrithik Roshan. His body language, his diction, his expressions, his overall persona got him rave reviews. With this film, Hrithik proved that there is more to him than just being a fashionable rage, a lover-boy and a sex symbol. His next film was 'Mission Kashmir' (2000), in which the emotional sequences were proof enough that he had matured as a performer.
In 2001, he got two films such as Subhash Ghai's 'Yaadein' and Karan Johar's much talked about mega movie 'Kabhi Kushi Kabhie Ghum'. Though the two films didn't come across as hard-hitting as promised, Hritik stole the hearts of youngsters with his style and dance. Next year, he came up with 'Aap Mujhe Achche Lagne Lage' (2002), which was Hrithik and Amisha's second film after KNPH. Though the film was not a commercial success, he uplifted even the most ordinary sequences to a respectable level. Arjun Sablok's 'Na Tum Jaano Na Hum' and Kunal Kohli's 'Mujhse Dosti Karoge' were other movies the same year, in which his performances were noteworthy. |
